We’ve Outgrown Our Name

It’s time. Maybe it’s better put as, it’s about time!

We’re changing our name, and we’re really, really excited about it.

This is not a decision we took lightly; we’ve been weighing it for quite some time. It’s a big deal for us because we are an inbound marketing firm that lives by what we do. We rank #1 for a lot of important keywords in our market, like “seo chicago.”

Our name has been a great asset for us.

Every week we get phone calls from people saying, “I searched for SEO companies in Chicago and you were #1, so I figured you must know what you’re doing.” And they’re right—it’s the best possible demonstration of our abilities.

The authority we have earned from Google is tied to our domain, and by changing our name and domain, we run the risk of losing some of the authority we’ve built up with Google. That fact has given us pause when thinking about changing what has been a successful name.

But ‘Chicago Style SEO’ as a name presents a few problems.

Take the word “Chicago.” It’s a great city, but being in our name is very limiting. We often get the question, “do you only work with Chicago companies?” We do work with a lot of Chicago companies, but we have many clients hailing from across the US.

Next, take the acronym “SEO.” Yes, we do all types of SEO—technical, local, and organic. However, we do a lot more:

  • We manage profitable PPC campaigns across many platforms.
  • We build highly optimized, complex websites.
  • We create strategic content for our clients’ marketing efforts.
  • We increase websites’ revenue through conversion rate optimization.
  • We analyze analytics data for clients and set up automated reporting dashboards.

Our name loudly implies that we only do SEO which minimizes the other great work we do.
